Gift of a Lifetime Part
Two
Jeanette Richmond and
Donna Westfall |
Editor's Note: While
we were waiting for word from or about Jeanette, I thought it would be
a nice thing if we made a bead strand for her to come home to. I knew that
Donna was a good friend of hers, so I put it to our group and asked Donna
to collect the beads. Little did I know what that creative lady would come
up with!

From Donna
I have always
loved dolls of all kinds and I am drawn to sculpting because of that love.
When the beads started to arrive and I began stringing them, I was unhappy
with the way the strand initially presented. I wanted the display to show
the creativeness and color combinations without running them all together.
I also felt it was important to identify each artists' work in a befitting
manner. I crochet Period dolls and thought a tassel doll in a Period
costume would be very nice, so I sat down and sketched out a couple of
different ideas and Jeanette's doll materialized. I looked
through my costume patterns, modifying one to the size of the tassel doll,
while incorporating some design changes. That is pretty much how
it came to fruition. I was very relieved the idea was well received by
everyone.
