To Cute or not to Cute
Irish Red
Some people sniff or hold up their noses at cute stuff. This is in defense of "cute".

I have read recent remarks about, "I don't do cute" in newsgroups and other forums. That's absolutely your right and fine for you. Some feel that way and some  go ga-ga over cuteness. That's absolutely your right and fine for you.
Personally, I like ~some~ cute stuff. Overly cute is not my style, and neither are too many bows, ribbons or ruffles. Whatever my personal style, I'll defend to the end the right of anybody to make anything that floats their boat. It's their money and their materials. If I don't like, I don't buy and I don't comment. If asked my opinion, I am as objective as possible and point out what is good about the piece. The technique, colors or whatever is done well will get the praise it deserves.
A very good friend loves very bright colors in a palette that is pretty much opposite to my favorites. She likes oranges and reds and yellows. I like jewel tones in blues, greens and purples, and earth tones. I would happily and gratefully accept any gift she chose to give me regardless of my personal choice of colors. The gift is given with love and accepted as such. It would have a place of honor in my home and would be displayed in the best spot possible to show off her style.
