Salute to Carol Duvall
The True Story of the Online Guild

By Sharon David

Publisher's Note: For the longest time, I thought the Carol Duvall Polymer Clay Guild was a myth or a rumor. I finally tracked down Sharon David, president of the mysterious Guild, and asked her to tell us how Carol came to have a Guild all her own.

><><><><><><><><><><><><><><

While at the Muse Conference I had been asked so many times which Guild was I from, that I started saying ” The Carol Duvall Guild.” While talking to a girl named Mags we decided that would be our answer to the question. This was in the form of a joke that took on a life of its own. People that had no Guilds near them and felt they had been educated by Carol’s shows asked to join (still in jest). Then Georgia Sargeant, Editor of The Polyinformer (NPCG newsletter) joined in and said "Why not!" I said yes!

I have kept a list of Carol's up coming shows for my personal use and I could e-mail the information. Georgia said, “Then make it a Virtual Guild," and she would put it into the Polyinformer. Barbara McGuire, Emi Fukushima, Maureen Carlson, and other artists told Carol she had a Guild. She was pleased.

So Mags wrote up the info and sent it to Georgia and we invited Clayers to join. To this date there have been over 400 members and many regional polymer clay Guilds post the show listings on the web. I post the show listings to some PC Groups mostly because there are so many bells and whistles on the e-mails and so many were being bounced, that this seemed to be an alternative.

Here is an updated list of Carol Duvall shows featuring polymer clay on HGTV:

Sometimes your favorite Artists have been asked to appear on Carol Duvall and show how they work with other media. When I run across these segments I add them to the list in (parenthesis).
