Begonia

This week, NJ treated us to a begonia-making demo. It was an exercise in pink and white. We watched as she created the blend, skilllfully folded it accordian style, and cut it into pieces that magically became flower petals in her hands.

Begonia Chop Beads
As usual, we ooh'd and ahh'd over the beautiful begonia, but that was just the appetizer. At the end of each segment of a demo, NJ takes the "scraps" and "chops" then in her signature style. These chops become something akin to a Natasha bead, but with NJ's personal flair.

Begonia Mask

NJ treated us to "dessert" after the begonia demo -- she made this mask out of the "leftovers."

The best part is, that whatever she makes, we are watching her on our computer monitor screens in real time. For me, that's 11 p.m. on Friday nights. NJ is in California, so for her, it's just 8 p.m. But what time is it for our friend Alice in Amsterdam, Holland? It's 6 a.m. the next morning. Alice sets her clock to regularly attend the demos. We have an eclectic and global group in probably every time zone in the world. Our clay mates join the demo from England, Spain, Germany, Italy, Australia, Brazil, Canada, almost every state in the United States, and one member who lists her location as 'At the End of a Gravel Road in Iowa."

The motto of the MSAT Clay Art family is To Uplift, Educate and Love. And you can be sure this group talks the talk and walks the walk. I personally invite you to join us some Friday night soon, when it will be your turn to have NJ ask you, "What'll you have, Honey?"

Publisher's Note: There's just not enough space in one issue of this ezine to show you the many delights of Nora Jean Gatine and the MSAT Clay Art group. Please visit her website and be sure you have food and drink with you -- you'll be there a while.

The MSAT Clay Art group site has instructions for accessing the free webcam demos as well as background information on the group and their benevolent projects to their fellow claymates in need. Look for information on the Donations Box and Newbies Box in the FILES and LINKS sections.
