A Tutorial
By Linda Hess
Leaf Accents:
Scrapbook Page Image 5

1. Cut a few strips (4”x 5/8”) from the green textured clay sheet. If there is not enough of this textured sheet left, repeat steps #1 and #2 from “Autumn Sayings” section.

2. Using bits of gold and copper clays mold an assortment of fall leaves. Lay the leaves out on the textured strips in an arrangement that you like. Press gently in place.

3. Add small snakes and dots/balls of clay to the ends of each strip (Fig. 5).

4) Bake for 30 minutes at 275 degrees. Cool.

Assembling the Page:
Scrapbook Page Complete 1. Using photo of completed page as a guide, begin by placing the “Autumn” saying in the center of the page. Make sure your pictures “frame” the saying.

2. Place the baked clay embellishments in open spaces around the pictures. Be sure that some sort of embellishment covers all white/light spaces. If needed, move the picture placement slightly to accomplish this. If necessary, make additional embellishments (see the flattened snakes of gold along the edge of top picture) to fill in and add another dimension to the page.
3. When you have an arrangement that is perfect, begin applying Glue Dots to the back of pictures and clay embellishments. Press into place. (Note: larger clay embellishments may take 3 or 4 Glue Dots to hold).

4. The “perfect” scrapbook page has words to accompany the pictures. I used Microsoft Word to get a variety of fonts in my writing. When I was happy with the balance I printed it out on a cream-colored vellum. The other option is to write your words by hand directly on the vellum using a Zip permanent marker. Let the ink dry (either method) then cut the writing to fit (see upper left hand corner of page). To apply: Place a Glue Dot in each corner of the vellum. Place words on scrapbook page. Cover the Glue Dots with colored brads (these can be found at most scrapbook stores or Staples office supply store). Option: circles of baked clay can be used to cover the corner dots in place of the colored brads.
