column you'll find products and services that I've personally selected
to endorse. (No

Sculpey UltraLight®
from Polyform Products
|
Have
you always crunched up wads of aluminum foil to use as armatures in
your larger polymer clay beads and sculpting projects, or built
elaborate forms made of wood and fillers to keep the weight of pieces
to a manageable level, you'll be excited about new Sculpey
UltraLight. This amazingly versatile clay is lightweight, but bakes
so hard that it won’t crack or break, even in larger pieces. When rolled thin and baked, Sculpey UltraLight is
flexible and perfect for paper crafts. Sculpey UltraLight even floats!
Just like Original Sculpey, cured Sculpey UltraLight can be painted
with 100% acrylic paints, sanded, drilled and buffed.
Look for it in major craft stores beginning in September. |
Portable Polymer Clay
Worksurface
|
If you've never seen the Portable
Polymer Clay Worksurface from Clay Junction, you've missed
one of the
greatest products ever created for the polyclay community. Inventor and
designer, Diana Crick, had her finger on the pulse of our industry when
she created this amazing tool. At 12 inches square and thinner than a
sheet of clay rolled out on the number one setting, the Portable
Worksurface makes rolling, measuring, and cutting clay easier than
ever. The worksurface is two-sided and extremely multifunctional.
By using the 1/4" grids, you can accurately measure and cut a plethora
of geometric shapes; determine just the right amount of clay for color
mixing; make straight and angled cuts; and so much more. Diana's
website has instructions for how to use the worksurface as a cane
slicer, too.

Sculpey Clay Club Mini-Kits
|
Wow! I wish I would have had Sculpey
Clay Club Mini-Kits when my daughter was younger.
These kits from Polyform let kids
have fun right out of the package. Designed by artist (and Mom) Amy
Koranek, they
come fully loaded with everything you need to bring out the polyclay
artist in any child -- bars of Sculpey III clay, instructions, and accessories to make
several projects. Clay Club offers six easy designs for kids, but don't
let that stop you from trying them yourself. They make great gifts, too. Look
for them in early December.
