Publisher's Note: I met Susan and Andy Spinks at the CHA (Craft and Hobby Association) trade show in Atlanta.in February. A throng of us polyclay types were hanging out at the PolymerCAFE booth when this delightful couple stopped by. They told us about their plans to open an online polymer clay store. We were all all ears!

Usually in the Featured Business article, you get a combination of my impression of a polymer clay related business and words straight from the business owner themselves. This article is no exception. I am including an announcement I received from Susan and Andy. I hope you will join me in welcoming them to the polyclay community. They are truly delighful people and we are fortunate to have another great resource for clay and supplies.

Andy and I are happy to announce the opening of our new online store, The Clay Store www.theclaystore.com featuring Polymer Clay products and accessories. Owning and operating our own business has been a dream of ours for some time, and in the past year everything seemed to come together to make it a reality. My love of my number one hobby (Clay!) and the belief that there was room for one more clay store out there made the choice to leave our full time jobs and pursue this new life a fairly easy one. The fact that my web developer son Sean worked nights and weekends building a full e-commerce site for The Clay Store is what truly makes our venture a family affair!

Our goal at The Clay Store is to provide the Polymer Clay community with another shopping option for all things clay. We need and want feedback, suggestions, and comments from our customers on what they want our store to offer. If we don’t have something our customers need, we will do our very best to find it. We plan to offer weekly specials, discount coupons, and giveaways on a regular basis. We have a tutorials section set up and ready for contributions from the PC community, and a forums section where folks can share ideas.  

In the short time we’ve been open, I have to say the response to our store has been overwhelming! The good wishes from the generous polymer clay community, plus the wonderful new friends we are making are proof to us that our decision to attempt to offer something new was a good one.  

Looking forward to being a resource for the artists of Polymer Clay!
