Everytime a new polymer clay book comes out I am certain it's my new favorite. And when I add it to the shelves where I keep all my polyclay books, it occurs to me that I have a LOT of favorites. This month I added two more and I know you will want them for your library, too.

Both books are available in bookstores and online through Polka Dot Creations.

Polymer Clay, Creative Traditions by Judy BelcherPolymer Clay, Creative Traditions: Techniques and Projects Inspired by the Fine and Decorative Arts by Judy Belcher is such a gorgeous book. In fact, I consider it the Orlando Bloom of polymer clay books.

This is Judy's first book all of her own and it is a treasure trove of eye candy not to mention all the wonderful information she manages to pack in.

Judy takes us on an enjoyable and very readable tour of historic art techniques and weaves modern materials with decorative arts of the past. There are over 300 photos to drool over including gallery images by some of the most famous names in the polyclay world.

This book is worth the price just for the section alone where Judy demonstrates how she makes her signature tessellation canes. It's not as difficult as I always thought it was and I am eager to see how well I do when I try it myself.

Polymer Clay For the Fun of It! By Kim Cavender

Polymer Clay For The Fun Of It! by Kim Cavender is all the things Kim is herself -- warm, kind, friendly, patient, and caring. Reading this book makes me feel as if Kim herself is standing beside me with a cup of warm cocoa and a pair of fuzzy slippers for me to wear as I pour over more than 20 projects that range from jewelry to home and office dècor.

Kim includes a detailed and informative guide to the basics of polyclay that even the most seasoned clay veteran will find useful. There is extensive how-to info including really great tips and shortcuts sprinkled throughout the text that show the range of Kim's knowledge of the medium..

Kim includes a gallery of polymer clay pieces by a slew of familiar artists. This is her first solo venture as a book author and she can be proud of her hard work.
