Hello! I hope you will bear with me while I diverge from the norm this month. Remember to send in your questions while I am gone playing Nana to Mary Frances later this month, and we can have a whole new set of answers after I return! This month, instead of questions, I am going to offer some places to visit for learning as well as finding eye candy. I have been lucky enough to become acquainted with a woman I think is one of the polymer clay world's finest resources. Her name is Nora Jean Gatine, or NJ, as she is called on some of the lists. She has done a marvelous job of turning her website into a destination location for anyone wanting to learn more about polymer clay, color blending, miniatures, and the TV series called Lexx (seen on the sci-fi channel in the US). Along with Diane Black's Glass Attic, Polymer Clay Central, and the Polyparrot, Nora Jean's website is a must-see, especially if you have become discouraged that you just cannot "get it". Did you say you have had a bad clay day and feel discouraged? Well, there are not many folks in the world who would let you see their "disasters," but Nora Jean doesn't mind at all. It seems that we all can goof . . . and learn to make lemonade when handed lemons! For instance, check out a view of the famous burnt tea set! Click onto Nora Jean's 1998 archive, which has many more links and lots to see. For additional motivation and mood elevating, see her rambles. A couple of my favorites: Sags and wrinkles equal wisdom and Stinkin' Guilt trips. And finally, since this is the Beginners' Corner, click here to find Nora Jean's ramble for shy beginners, with encouragement to post in and learn from the newsgroups and interest lists. Have a great month… Deborah |
