News and Notes
  • Staedtler Takes Over Fimo Distribution - Staedtler of Chatsworth, California will take over the distribution of the FIMO brand of polymer sculpting clay manufactured by its sister company, Eberhard Faber GmbH in Germany. Previously, Fimo was distributed by American Art Clay Co. Inc. (AMACO), a high quality pottery supply and equipment manufacturer. The distribution transition is scheduled to be completed by October 1, 2007, according to Michael Wiesmann, president and CEO of Staedtler's U.S. subsidiary.

"The Fimo brand was originally distributed by Staedtler nearly two decades ago," says Wiesmann, "but at that time, we felt that AMACO's craft and hobby capability was better suited to Fimo's exposure. Today, we are strategically focusing on this area, and Fimo will certainly be a big part of that. We will provide the same high standard of product support and market development for which Staedtler is well known." [Reprinted from Scrapbook Retailer magazine - 07Sept2007]

  • Speaking of FIMO, Heather Powers offer a link to that fabulous FIMO color mixing chart, on her new polyblog. It's part of The Craft Gossip Network, and a cyber place where you will definitely need a cup of coffee and a few hours to leisurely meander through page after page of all sorts of polyclay tidbits. Heather has 14 years' experience with polymer clay and even more with arts and crafts in general. She's a children's author and Visit Heather's regular website, www.humblebeads.com where it's almost impossible not to drool over images of Heather's organic jewelry creations designed around her innovative art beads.
