Hello Everyone: Two weeks ago, when I was thinking about Polyzine, I was thinking about how small, how inconsequential we are. This week, I am excited about our new issue, and our future.
|
| Is it wrong to be excited about possibility, about the future, when so many people have lost their lives, and so many people and children have such deep and overwhelming sadness in their lives? We are just a magazine, about clay, used for such small and ultimately excessive items. We are just talk and surface and decoration. Then I think about the letters I get, from someone wanting to know how she can meet other people who are interested in polymer clay, from someone wanting to know how other people go about their daily work of sanding and buffing and polishing, and I realize that we are something much more profound than simply words on a screen. We are a community. You and I, we might suffer, we might die. But there will be others in this community, and more will come, and the ideas will live on, and this knowledge will live on, and the stories will live on. That is America, whether you are in Maine, or Colorado, or Quebec, or Sweden. And no one can take that away. No one can make that disappear. Stay safe, Deirdre |
